Abstract

Studies on interpretation, exegesis, and hermeneutics are very wide for the difference of the scope of definition presented. Interpretation and exegesis are used to understand the words, sentences and the God's messages. Many Muslim scholars considers both have the same meaning, whereas for hermeneutics means the explanation about the meaning of the God's messages. Therefore, if hermeneutics is under-stood as the above explanation, it is not wrong that actually, herme-neutics has long been known by the Muslim scholars before the emergence of Western hermeneutics. As to other method of the inter-pretation of the Qur'an, Islam does not ban hermeneutics to doubt the Qur'an as long as that process drives the doer to positively think about the Qur'an and not to make the doer in pessimistic doubtful, pessimistic doubtful accompanied by bad assumption toward the Qur'an. Although some Muslim scholars allow the use of hermeneu-tical study in understanding the Qur'an, however, there are some tight requirements in using it. One of them is if there is certain indication (qaranah) which makes it hard to understand the external meaning

Abstract

Do the non-Arabic words exist in the Qur’an? There are two opinions of the Muslim scholars regarding this matter. Some reject that there are some non-Arabic words in the Qur’an and some accept it. Each of the group has its own argument. Nevertheless, the strongest argument is that there are some non-Arabic words in the Qur’an, considering that some of those words originated from outside Arabic language but have been absorbed and been treated as the Arabic words. It is not impossible that those words come from the  Semitic language which have been absorbed by some Semitic language branches and the Arabic language is one of the Semitic branches.

Abstract

This writing is explaining the development of the lexicography of the Qur’an, starting from the history of its emergence, the works that have been written, both personally or institutionally and the method being used. One of the problems the Muslim scholars concern about is the words of the Qur’an. It is because not all of the Arabs at the time the Qur’an was revealed understood all the words the Qur’an used. The uniqueness and the richness of the Arabic language has made the language of the Qur’an cannot all be understood and even considered by some of the Arabs to be extremely strange. The language of the Qur’an is of two kinds; some are those that can be understood easily by the Arabs and some can only be understood by certain people of the Arabs. The second group of the words is commonly known in the Arabic lexicography as  garīb  Al-Qur’an (the strange words of the Qur’an).

Abstract

The object of the study of the knowledge of the variety of the Quranic reading is the Qur'an itself. The focus is on the difference of the reading and its articulation. The method is based on the riwayat or narration which is originated from the Prophet (Rasulullah saw) and its use is to be one of the instruments to keep the originality of the Qur’an. The validity of the reading the Qur’an is to be judged based on the valid chain (sanad ¡a¥ī¥) in accord with the Rasm U£mānī as well as with the Arabic grammar. Whereas the qualification of its originality is divided into six stages as follow: the first is mutawātir, the second is masyhūr, the third is āhād, the fourth is syaz, the fifth is maudū‘, and the six is mudraj. Of this six catagories, the readings which can be included in the catagory of mutawātir are Qiraat Sab‘ah (the seven readings) and Qiraat ‘Asyrah (the ten readings). To study this knowledge of reading the Qur’an (ilmu qiraat), one is advised to know about special terms being used such as qiraat (readings), riwayat (narration), tarīq (the way), wajh (aspect), mīm jama‘, sukūn mīm jama‘ and many others.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know about the process and the steps of the destruction of the Universe (kiamat) in the Qur'an. This phenomenon will be explained through cosmological perspective. Al-Qur'an mentions the phenomenon of the end of the world (universe) or (kiamat) in many verses for more than 700 times. Therefore, human beings are supposed to be able to “read” the phenomenon of the universe. According to the Qur'an, destruction is divided into two categories: the first is total destruction of the universe and the second is the day of resurrection. The first one is the final destruction of the universe known as the doomsday. At this stage, the expansion of the universe is ceased and leaves the contraction space caused by gravitation. As the result, all things are more closed to others and destruction cannot be avoided. The second destruction is the destruction of the earth which is caused by human beings attitude
